Areas We Cover

Demolition and groundworks across Essex

We are based in Benfleet and most of our work is within twenty minutes of the yard, across Castle Point and the surrounding towns. We take on jobs further afield across Essex too, and being local means we usually know what is under the ground before we start digging.

Core area

On our doorstep

These are the towns we work in week in, week out. If you are here, we can normally get out to look at the job within a few days.

Benfleet

Home for us, and where a good share of our work is. Much of Benfleet sits on London Clay, which drives foundation depth and is the most common reason a set of footings costs more than the homeowner was expecting. The older housing stock either side of Benfleet Road often comes with narrow side access, so we will tell you honestly at the quoting stage whether a machine can reach the back garden or whether part of the job is coming out by hand.

South Benfleet

The ground drops away toward the creek and the marshes at the southern end, and the water table rises with it. That matters for drainage and for soakaways in particular, because a soakaway that will not take water is worse than no soakaway at all. We look at where the water is actually going before we put one in.

Hadleigh

We work throughout Hadleigh, from the London Road properties down toward the castle and the marshes. The ground slopes noticeably in places, which brings levels and retaining into a lot of otherwise straightforward garden jobs. Rear access off the main road is often tight, and we run machines sized accordingly.

Thundersley and Daws Heath

Mature trees are the defining feature here, and on clay soil they are the single biggest influence on how deep a foundation has to go. A large oak near a proposed extension can push footings well past the depth people expect. We price for it rather than discovering it once the trench is open, and Building Control will confirm the depth for your site.

Canvey Island

Canvey is reclaimed land, and it behaves differently from the mainland. Made ground, a high water table and low levels across most of the island all affect how a trench holds up once it is open and how well a soakaway performs afterwards. It is not difficult ground to work in if you know it, and we have been working on it for years. Access along the older residential roads is usually the bigger constraint.

Wider Essex

Across the rest of Essex

We work regularly across the towns around us and take on jobs county-wide, both for homeowners and as a subcontractor to builders and developers.

Leigh-on-Sea and Chalkwell

Older properties, narrow roads and steep drops toward the seafront. Access planning matters more here than almost anywhere else we work, and conservation area rules apply in parts of Old Leigh.

Rayleigh & Hockley

Extensions, footings, bases and drainage on a mix of older and newer housing, much of it on the same clay we deal with at home.

Basildon, Laindon & Pitsea

New town ground brings made ground and buried services more often than not, so we survey before we dig. Plenty of commercial and industrial work here as well as domestic.

Southend-on-Sea and Westcliff

Densely built, with hand-dig jobs a regular feature where terraced access rules a machine out. We will always tell you which it is before we quote.

Wickford, Billericay and Rochford

Larger plots, better access and a steady run of extension footings, garden room bases and outbuilding demolition.

Grays, Corringham and Stanford-le-Hope

Comfortably within range for commercial site clearance and larger groundworks packages.

Somewhere else?

If your job is somewhere not listed here, ask us anyway. If it is a size that makes the travel worthwhile, we will come and look at it.

Why local matters

Being local is not just about the drive

Anyone can put a town name on a website. What eighteen years of working the same patch actually gives you is knowing what is under it.

The difference between London Clay in Thundersley, made ground on Canvey and the wetter ground down toward the creeks is the difference between a footing priced correctly and one that gets renegotiated halfway through. It is the reason we quote what we quote, and the reason we are rarely surprised once the digging starts.

It also means we are twenty minutes away rather than two hours. If something needs looking at, we can come and look at it.
